Torrent Tragedy: Mininova Implodes
Good news this week for copyright holders, as popular torrent indexing site Mininova.com has been forced to remove all links to infringing content. The decision comes following a ruling in Dutch court, which threatens a €1000 fine for every illegal torrent accessible from the site. Unlike the recently defunct Pirate Bay, Mininova did not operate its own tracking server, yet their combined loss has dealt critical damage to the file sharing community. While its predecessor (suprnova.org) went offline completely in the face of similar litigation, Mini's once massive P2P network has reverted to strict legitimacy, distributing only open source software and author-approved media. I will be burning my clogs and eating a live tulip in protest.
